8 Low Cost Ways to Makeover Your Kitchen

Message Board… Grab a can of chalkboard paint and apply it to a few cabinet panels for a new look and a new message board. Pick cabinets that are easy to reach, to make jotting down a grocery list a cinch.

Interior Makeover… Give the inside of your cabinets a boost with clever storage solutions. Once a haphazard jumble of cleaning supplies, this under-sink cabinet was refreshed with a simple slide-out shelving unit, which corrals cleaners, soaps, and sponges for an orderly storage solution.

Bright Color… Glass-front cabinets create a gorgeous look. To give the style a new look, paint the interiors of your cabinets a bold color. Consider coordinating the color with the dishes displayed in the cabinet for a chic look.

Less is More… Removing the doors from some of the upper cabinets reveals the space inside, making the kitchen look larger. Paint the interior a rich accent color to spice up the kitchen even more.

Storage on Display… Take ordinary cabinets to the next level by swapping out a few solid door panels for glass-front ones. This setup doubles as storage and a showcase for glasses, plates, serving bowls, and tea pots.

Small Change… For a small change with big effect, add stylish hardware to your cabinets. Replacing traditional cabinet door knobs with modern tubular handles is an affordable hardware update that offers a trendy touch for your kitchen.

Stylish Faucets… Spruce up your kitchen sink with a new faucet. Often overlooked kitchen elements, faucets are truly valuable style-setters. Faucets come in a limited number of metals, so to start you'll need to settle on a finish. After you've decided on a finish, search your favorite brands for models that suit your needs and your kitchen's style.

Bright Ideas… Updating your kitchen's style might be as simple as looking overhead. Consider switching out an old light over an island for a more personalized look. With so many styles and finishes available, finding unique lighting to suit your kitchen's style is easier than ever. For lighting that will hang above a work space such as an island, search for a model that balances style and function and provides adequate lighting for cooking tasks.

Your Kitchen's Hidden Possibilities

Back in the 80’s, kitchen cabinets were well-equipped if they included a lazy Susan and a built-in spice rack. Now there are so many storage options, ranging from roll-out trays to mixers lifts. What's most interesting about the concealed features, though, is where and how they're hidden. Where you'd expect to find swinging doors opening to reveal storage inserts, there are pullout doors attached to shelves for pots and pans, holders for recycling and garbage bins, and racks for canned and dry goods. The great things about these features you can add them to your existing cabinetry. Here are a few ideas to inspire any kitchen.

Designing Your Kitchen -Cabinet Corner Options

When designing your kitchen the bottom corner cabinets in particular can create wasted space, and make it difficult for you to retrieve items stored in the back of the cupboard. Thankfully, there are options of storage systems that are built to address blind corner cabinet issues and help solve this dilemma.

·        Pull-Out Shelves

o   A pull-out shelving unit is similar to regular shelves, but allows homeowners to have easy access to items usually buried in the back of regular bottom corner cabinets. They are built to eliminate wasted space and easily slide back into the cabinet after use. These slide-out units are often available for left and right corner cabinets and feature baskets, which provide secure storage for pots, pans and containers.

·        Super Susan
o   An upgrade from the lazy Susan, the no-center pole design super Susan is made from sturdy materials and comes with deep shelves outfitted with their own turntables. A super Susan easily bears the weight of heavy pots and pans, kitchen appliances and bulky dry goods. Another version, which comes with a shallow shelf and circular surround cabinet, efficiently stores spices without the nuisance of items getting lost in the back or falling off the sides.
·        Rotating Recycle Center
o   A rotating recycle center provides efficient storage for waste and recycle bins, allowing them to rotate freely on a diameter pole. If you're a do-it-yourself person, you can install the unit quickly and easily, as it comes pre-assembled. Choose from different types of storage units: the under mount slide, the side mount (which allows precise door alignment), or the bottom mount (which provides stability). They each come with a soft close feature option which eliminates slamming. 5.

·        Corner Drawers
o   The corner draws come pre-assembled and slide out to allow easy access to items. For organization and maximum storage capacity, these draws can be outfitted with a top and bottom tray to store cutlery, spatulas, ladles and other large items.
·        Corner Sink
o   So when it comes to corner kitchen sink, you have many choices. You can buy corner kitchen sink with one large bowl, or get one that has as many as three bowls. You have to take the way you use the kitchen into consideration. For instance, if you’re a cook who’s constantly washing or needing to fill large pots and pans, the larger basin for corner sink is probably the best bet for you. And if you love the sleek, undisturbed lines of Undermount Corner Kitchen Sinks, you’re in luck because these are easy to install and a perfect option for cleaning up a corner kitchen sink area.
